Founded in 2006 by a retired university professor, his life partner, and their 13 year old daughter,
Bel Frites was conceived after several family trips to Europe. Having experienced "frites" in France
and Northern Europe and wondering why such delicacies were not available at home, they decided
to master the art of making frites and embark on a new business enterprise.

The question most people ask about our business  is "What are Belgian Fries?"

Belgian fries may look like french fries but the difference between Belgian fries and french fries is
like the difference between drip coffee from a can and fresh roasted coffee from a specialty coffee
house. Crispy on the outside and baked potato fluffy on the inside-they’re fried potato perfection!

Unlike fast-food french fries that are made from frozen potatoes, fried in advance, then dumped into
bins and left under heat lamps until you order them, our “frites” (the French word for “fries”) are
cooked to order and are the result of many hours of meticulous preparation.

Like a baker of fine artisan breads whose bread is the result of many hours of preparation, the
process of preparing our “artisan frites” begins the day before they are served and ends when you
place your order. In all, more than 12 hours are spent preparing them before they are ready to be
enjoyed.

We use only the finest ingredients in our sauces, seasonings, and frites. Fresh Grade A Russet
potatoes are hand-cut daily. No preservatives or additives are used. Pure trans fat free, low
linolenic acid Canola oil is used in both the blanching (pre-fry) step as well as the final  flash fry
step. Our oil is filtered daily and is replaced on a regular schedule to insure the finest quality
product we can serve. Our sauces are prepared daily and our seasonings are custom-made and
blended from the finest ingredients available.
